3* New Forest Autumn ride 3*
Leader:
Jo Little
Start Time:
9:00 am
Start Location:
Lyndhurst
Description:
Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader.

An Autumn visit to the New Forest for an all day ride.
We will start at Lyndhurst and then head towards Bolderwood Drive, climbing the easier, back way, before heading north and then skirting Ringwood. The first cafe stop is at Hockeys farm shop and cafe, which serves breakfast (20 miles) before we return to Lyndhurst via Brockenhurst and Beaulieu, where we can have a second cafe stop (42 miles). The ride covers heathland, forest and quiet country lanes and will, hopefully, look as beautiful as ever.
The starting place is the Bolton's Bench car park on the B3056 Lyndhurst to Beaulieu road. When approaching from Lyndhurst village (on the A35 Southampton Road) the B3056 is on the right hand side, opposite the fire station. The car park is immediately on the left. It has a large car park and it is free of charge to park.
Starting time is 9am, which should give us time to enjoy the Forest and then return home before it gets dark.

Weather:

Report:
It was cloudy for most of the day, but dry and warm. The forest looked lovely, with the leaves just turning. We saw ponies, donkeys, cows, and lots of piglets (who had been released to eat the acorns) causing traffic chaos. The first half of the ride was north of the A31, where there were lots of quiet lanes and hardly any traffic. The cafe stop seemed busy but was very efficient and worth revisiting. The second half of the ride was much busier, but still enjoyable, with a stop at Beaulieu before returning to Lyndhurst.
It was good to welcome Neil on his first ride with the club, and thank you to everyone for making it an enjoyable day out.
Distance:
