New Forest Weekend Day 2 3*
Leader:
Jo Little
Start Time:
9:00 am
Start Location:
Lyndhurst
Description:
We follow more familiar roads today, starting again at Bolton's Bench in Lyndhurst. We head towards Bolderwood, ascending it the easier way and then ride along the very scenic Rhinefield Ornamental drive. We go off road for a short while as we skirt Brockenhurst, but the road is slightly sand/gravel and looks fine for road bikes. We then head towards Bucklers Hard for our cafe stop. The Captain's Table has mixed reviews but has proven fine in the past for a coffee and cake stop. Bucklers Hard itself is an old shipbuilding village by the Beaulieu river and is worth a quick explore.
It's then only a few miles back to Lyndhurst.
36 miles in total.

Weather:
sunny
Report:
Sunday was another warm and sunny day. We enjoyed the beautiful Rhinefield ornamental drive as well as some heathland before heading to Bucklers Hard for the cafe stop. This wasn't as efficient as the ones the day before but was good enough to provide cake before the dash back to Lyndhurst. Another great cycle ride through some beautiful scenery. Again, my thanks to Ed for leading a second group and to everyone for their company.
Distance:
57.94 km (36.00 mi)
