Off Road Sunday Ride Wayland’s Smithy	2*

Leader: Eddie Little	Start Time: 9:30 am	Start Location: Wantage Market Place
Description: Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Off-road half day ride around local tracks, usually 15-30 miles. Knobbly tyres required. We are keen to welcome new riders of all abilities. From Wantage we’ll join the Ridgeway going via Larkhill and the point to point course. We’ll then follow the Ridgeway out to Wayland’s Smithy via Whitehorse Hill. We then back track along the Ridgeway descending to the spring line via badgers run. Optional stop for coffee in Childrey. Return to Wantage via the Wilts & Berks Canal. At the end of the ride Second Optional stop for coffee & pastries @ Marmalade. Ride distance 23.5 miles/38km.
Riders: Anke Otto Eddie Little James Bosley Paul Wensley Selene Moquet Terry Penn Riders = 6 Weather: Report: We had a nice group of six riders out for this morning Off-road ride to Wayland’s Smithy. Weather conditions were mostly pretty good, just a slight headwind at start of the ride. The Ridgeway was reasonably busy with dog walkers and cyclists. The trails along the Ridgeway and the Wilts and Berks Canal were running well. Views from the Ridgeway didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately Selene suffered a rear puncture. Thanks to James and Paul for fixing the puncture. Also it was a chance for me to try out my new electric pump which inflated the tyre with ease. Everyone enjoyed the route which is always a bonus.Three of us stopped off at Marmalade for coffee and pastries. Thanks to everyone for their patience and good company. Many thanks to Terry and James for taking it in turns to sweep. Finally congratulations to Selene on this being her longest ride.
