Saturday afternoon ride 3*	3*

Leader: Sorrel Williams	Start Time: 1:00 pm	Start Location: OMH
Description: Starting from Grove, we will head to East Challow and Childrey and then turn left up towards Lambourn. From Lambourn we will turn left towards Ashbury and then head back towards Wantage via Compton Beauchamp, Longcot, Uffington, S-I-T-V and Charney Bassett. Tea stop at the end at the cafe next to Tesco in the Square.

Quite a breezy ride in the end. We all headed out of Grove in the direction of East Challow/Letcombes and then onto the crossroads at Childrey. The climb up to Sparsholt Firs was a little interesting to say the least and at this point a few members of the group decided to stay in the lowlands (very wise!) where the wind was keeping well away. The rest of us battled on to Lambourn, Upper Lambourn and Ashbury where we decided to change the route slightly and head into Shrivenham. Des led us through the 'back streets' (read residential area) of Shrivenham to avoid us being reversed into and then onto his house for a tea stop (note to self, make the route go past Des' house more often). After being fed and watered, we coaxed our legs back into action to go back to Grove via Fernham, Baulking and Goosey. The slight tail wind gave us an excellent opportunity to put the hammer down on the stretch from Baulking to the A417 and no matter what the others tell you, they couldn't keep up with the only girl in the group. A great afternoon and the wind wasn't so bad, after all.
