Annual Mince Pie Ride to White Horse Hill
Leader:
John Tranter
Start Time:
9:45 am
Start Location:
WMP
Description:
Our annual festive ride, which again is in aid of Whizz-Kidz, the children's mobility charity.

Guests and other cycling clubs are very welcome to cycle with us from Wantage Market Place from 10:00 onwards or join us at White Horse Hill NT car park (grid ref SU 293866) from 11:15 to 12:00 for mince pies and mulled wine. All proceeds on the day will go to Whizz kidz.

We shall have on-road rides at 1*, 2* and 3* grades and two off-road rides to choose from - please see separate ride entries for route details (there is an earlier off-road option starting from the Lord Nelson at 9:30). This is a very popular event, so please arrive in good time for registration. There will be a short briefing at 10 am. The 3* ride will set off soon after, the 2* ride 5 mins after that and the 1* at about 10:15.

Report:
Well, another amazing success. Records were broken for total numbers of riders attending at the National Trust car park (approx 100) and for money raised by those riders' generous contributions for the Whizz Kidz charity (£550).

Many thanks to the leaders of the 5 different rides (another record) and to all who helped out with the other aspects of the day.

Even the weather was about as good as could be expected for the time of year!

The names logged here are those members who were on the hill, who either made their own way there or were not riding for one reason or another.

It is so nice to see that the mince pie run my parents and I started many moons ago with clubs some of which gone and others like want age still around. Goes on and still attracts good turnout.
