Cotswold 100km Ride	3*

Leader: Chris Walters	Start Time: 9:00 am	Start Location: Cerney Wick Visitor Centre car park - SU 072 097
Description: Hilly all-day ride in the Cotswolds. Park at the visitor centre next to Cotswold Outdoor, ready to start riding at 09:00. Out via Kemble, Daglingworth and Northleach, returning via Bourton-on-the-Water, Windrush and Fairford. Lots of pretty villages, and some strenuous climbs (over 1000m of climbing on the ride). We will forage for lunch when we're hungry, probably around Northleach. Please contact Chris if you intend to come - the ride will not run without support.
Riders: Andy Newell Barry Gills Bryan Charleston Chris Walters David Bridge Janet Charleston John Talbot Louis Hall Lyn Taylor Richard Preece Riders = 10 Weather: Report: The day started by crossing the 20 celsius point before 08:00, and it got hotter and hotter. We missed Nick, whose internet stopped him getting the email about the start time, and must have been about 15 minutes behind the start. No dramas until Daglingworth, where Richard discovered his Garmin had fallen off. A search back down the road didn't turn up anything; neither did a bigger search post ride. Terrible bad luck. The run in to Northleach was enjoyed by all, as was the lunch stop in the square. Immediately afterwards came an evil climb, added to the evil climb out of Bourton to LIttle Rissington, meant that the mercury was well and truly rising. My Garmin said 37 celsius at one point. The brilliant long downhill into the Thames Valley was only punctuated by a couple of rises, and we were totally ready for ice creams at the end. Well done everyone - that was a hard ride, hilly and as hot as I've ever dared to ride in!
