Tuesday Evening 4* Ride	4*

Leader: Andy Pixton	Start Time: 6:30 pm	Start Location: OMH
Description: Weekly 1.5-2 hours ride at a riding pace of 25-29km/h (16-18mph). May be hilly. This ride will be in the MIDDLE of the grade. A flatter route than last week but longer. Up to Curbridge in an anti-clockwise loop, taking in Friford, Tubney, Fyfield, and Standlake, returning via Bampton and the only climb of the ride, Buckland Hill. Plenty of fast roads, and an interesting crossing of the A420, with scope for shortening the route if we're running late.

The weather forecast had promised a tail wind to Ducklington and a lighter head wind on the return. The reality was a much kinder, less directional wind, with some dark brooding clouds and a few raindrops towards the end of the ride. As daylight diminishes through the summer, it was important to set a good pace from the outset. As we turned down the bridleway to the tunnel under the A420, someone yelled "cyclocross". It was an interesting detour, and traffic-free. With the lead changing frequently, we managed half the ride on the hour, allowing for a more relaxed return. Having climbed Buckland Hill, and with plenty of subdued daylight remaining, the mood turned positively 2*, as we cruised home. Thanks to all who turned out. A compact, friendly group.
