Tuesday Evening 4* Ride	4*

Leader: Phil Ward	Start Time: 6:30 pm	Start Location: OMH
Description: Weekly 1.5-2 hours ride at a riding pace of 25-29km/h (16-18mph). May be hilly. Last minute edit: Ride leader illness necessitates a change. We'll go with Paul's route and see what happens. Something for everyone Climbing , Descents mixed with 20k of flat to re group and ride as a fast group ! 64 k with 317 meters climbing Going to be a hot evening maybe the hottest of the year Drink plenty and slap on sun cream ! .... Riders: Frank Schroer Jason Jones Peter Cowan Phil Ward Richard Kembleton Ruth Fisher Simon Payne Riders = 7 Weather: Report: Lost leader & an abdication. It seemed somehow appropriate in these times of uncertain economy and political upheaval to match the mood. Seven left OMH in full sun and stifling heat. We made rapid progress NorthWesterly, sharing the lead & in part due to a strong tailwind. Lechlade was the far turn and I think most had already made significant inroads to their bottles by this point. Pete left us at Coleshill, feeling a bit "cooked" and with an ascent of Chain Hill to end his ride I suspect a sound decision. I continued to struggle on the few limited rises remaining and Simon peeled off on regaining the A417 after Shellingford. Having signalled my intention to abdicate at my next separation from the group, the remaining posse appeared content heading directly for Wantage. Special thanks to Ruth for some fierce pacing all the way to the Goosey turn, where I finally fell on my sword. All have made it home, via a variety of routes and I think it made for a memorable evening's endeavour. 65km : 2h22' (27.6kph) 30C dropping to 24C by 8:30pm
