Description: Tonight we head out, bound for West Hanney, via Denchworth and Lyford. All flat, apart from the railway bridge(!), and smooth (barring those pot-holes to avoid...) Total trip of about 9 miles (sunshine on order). Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way.

A bumper group of fifteen riders - turned up for a bright evening. Two new riders , Esme and Paul - both welcome, along with everyone else of course! Split into two groups, meeting up properly at each pause. Second group very ably led by Gareth. Customary pause at Denchworth, before relaxing stop by the church in Lyford (statutory photo..), then ambling round to West Hanney. Good sharp warnings were heard for approaching vehicles, not to mention for the occasional (or frequent) pot hole or crater in the road. The pause at the Church in West Hanney was brief, as all preferred to move on before the cold set in. Back at Grove before 8pm and before lights were needed. Well done all!. Especially as we did 11 miles - two more than advertised(!) Thanks to Gareth for leading the second group, and to Steve S for sweeping. A very enjoyable ride.
