2* Saturday Half Day Ride	2*

Leader: Jon Townsin	Start Time: 1:00 pm	Start Location: OMH
Description: Half day ride (45-55km / 30-40 miles), with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly. Might be a struggle for new or irregular riders in winter months. Starting at 1.00pm, we'll head south through the Letcombes and up everyone's favourite hill, Hackpen. From there we will enjoy the swoop down into Lambourn and then along the valley road as far as Boxford. From this southern most spot, we'll head north, through Leckhampstead and on to Saddleback Farm shop for an optional tea stop. Then its off via Farnborough and back down Chain Hill through Wantage and Grove. A slightly longer ride at 57k with a couple of climbs should get us back by 5.00pm.

We saw Phil and Sara Ward as they passed cycling the wrong way down Holborn Hill and later Sharon Bedford cycling the wrong way down Hangman's Lane !!! Nice to see you all out and about The proposed coffee stop at Saddleback was replaced with a much more sensibly placed stop at a recently opened cafe at the village hall in East Garston - thanks to Jenny for the local info! Nice teas, coffees and cakes in the sunshine - what could be better ?! As the route was a little hilly we decided to go straight back down Chain Hill rather than proceed to (the now redundant Saddleback stop) and arrived back at around 5.00pm. 55km at a pace of 19.8 kph. Thanks to all for a great ride out and special thanks to Terry for sweeping.
