3* Saturday Half Day Ride	3*

Leader: Katherine Boyce	Start Time: 10:30 am	Start Location: OMH
Description: Half day ride (60-70km / 38-45 miles), with a tea stop, riding pace of 20-24km/h (13-15mph). Likely to visit distant destinations. Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing likely. Hilly start to the new year: Chain Hill, through Farnborough to West Ilsley and then to Brightwalton and Great Shefford before lunch in the new cafÃ© at Lambourn. Returning to Grove via Sheepdrove and the Letcombes. Do not be concerned about the hills unless you are a fast climber and don't like waiting for slow climbers like me
Riders: Andy Pixton Chris Bailey David Smith Jenny Gower John Groves Joy Arthur Katherine Boyce Nick Dunton Nicole Pethybridge Paul Bentley Robin Tucker Sharon Bedford Terry Penn Ursula Hallam Riders = 14 Weather: Report: Good turnout for the first 3* of 2020. Terry kindly swept and everyone looked out for each other. Few mechanicals involving chains and a mudguard but otherwise uneventful. The views from the top of the hills were great payback for the effort, the Downs never fail to deliver. There were lots of soars of red kites and near West Ilsley some of us were lucky enough to have a really close view of a hovering kestrel. I never tire of seeing birds of prey! Can highly recommend Goodies in Lambourn. They now have bike racks out the back and they are monitored by CCTV. Service was brisk, although orders came out in a rather random fashion! All in all a really lovely first ride of 2020, thanks all for being a great bunch to lead.
