Moderate Saturday ride

Description: Regular Saturday afternoon ride of 60-70km leaving from Grove to Bishopstone via a tea stop in Aldbourne. A ride out that will give you a chance to get a good run on the flat and challenge yourself with some hills. Riding from Grove through the back lanes to Uffington then across to Shrivenham, Bishopstone and then a bit of a hill up to Aldbourne where we will be nicely warmed up, so a stop here for refreshments before the home return through Lambourn, over Seven Barrows with a rewarding descent past the Blowing Stone and back through the lanes to Grove. The sweeping became unnecessary when it became apparent that the eight of us out for the ride were all riding as a group at much the same pace. What was needed after the first 30 minutes was someone else to take a turn at the front as there was a bit of a headwind and Sorrel obliged and then Chris and soon pretty much everyone was taking a turn at the front. The weather was brilliant and made for a perfect Saturday afternoon ride. The pub stop at The Blue Boar on the green at Aldbourne was welcomed after riding for about 1hr 50 minutes at a moderate pace. The return from Lambourn to Grove up Seven Barrows was perfect with a tail wind and the golden corn and the sun making you realise this is what cycling is all about. All arrived back at Grove before 5pm very happy to have cycled 44 miles
