Tuesday Evening 2* Ride	2*

Description: Weekly 1.5 hour rides at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly. Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. 1.5-2 hour ride at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph) Scutchamers Knob Please arrive by 6.20pm for the ride leader's briefing and a prompt start to the ride. We are not always able to wait beyond the start time.
Riders: Angie Fisher Anke Otto David Jackson Jan McCabe John Tranter Roger Turnbull Stephanie Haddrell Steve Boreham Riders = 8 Weather: Report: A glorious evening, albeit a bit breezy, and a good group set off for the mysteries of the rarely visited Scutchamer Knob on the Ridgeway above East Hendred. We headed around Wantage and out on the Icknield Way past Lockinge and Ginge before the one big climb up to the Ridgeway. Everyone managed this well, although clearly electric assistance was helpful for some! We took some nice photos as the sun dipped and explored the rather scrappy mound which is Scutchamer Knob - an Iron Age round barrow which is the subject of a few legends from Anglo-Saxon times, but was also used as a marketplace for trading goods in medieval times. We then enjoyed the big descent, headed back along the Icknield Way to Ardington, over Lains Barn road and home just as the sun was setting. Thanks to all for joining me - a nice ride on a lovely evening.
