Regular Wantage Ride	3*

Description: Monthly 80-100km (50-65 miles) all-day touring ride, lunch and possibly tea stop en route, at a riding pace of 18-22km/h (11-14mph). Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing almost inevitable. Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Starting at Hungerford Train Station (according to West Berks website free parking on Sundays) allows us to explore out west towards Marlborough and Pewsey and still make it a manageable ride given the declining daylight hours. About 50 miles / 80k in total, with one cafe stop approx. half way round at uksticksandstones.com
Riders: Andy Pixton Jan McCabe Jo Little Katherine Boyce Lisa Footner Richard Pethybridge Sharon Bedford Riders = 7 Report: Starting at Hungerford gave us the opportunity to explore areas we don't visit often, which we all enjoyed. We found lots of quiet roads with some lovely views. Autumn seems to arrived out of nowhere - but despite it being chilly it was nice to see the trees beginning to change colour. The cafe worked well - we were fortunate enough to arrive just in time to get the last big table - and the food was great. Given it was busy we were served very efficiently. We had one sticky moment on the return when Katherine's gears jammed - but Richard game to the rescue with a perfectly positioned "kick" to the pedals, which seemed to do the trick. Richard had cycled over from Newbury, so he left us at Inkpen to return home and the rest of us completed the ride in plenty of time to get back with some of the afternoon still to spare. Thanks to Andy for lending me a Garmin holder, (navigating would have been a challenge otherwise) and thanks to all the riders for being a great group.
